Is homeschooling legal for my Johor Bahru family?
Yes. Under Section 135(1) of the Education Act 1996, Malaysian children aged 6–12 must be enrolled in primary school unless the parent obtains an exemption from the Johor State Education Department (JPN Johor), forwarded to the Ministry of Education for approval — typically 4–8 weeks, requiring a written curriculum plan, which Dreamtime provides at enrolment. Secondary-level homeschooling has more flexibility under the same Act.
