A typical week for a Bangsar homeschool family
Live classes run mornings (Primary 9:10am–1:00pm, Secondary 8:30am–1:05pm MYT), which leaves afternoons free for the enrichment Bangsar puts on your doorstep — swimming and racquet sport at the nearby sports complex, music or art lessons around Telawi, a language class, or an unhurried afternoon at Bangsar Village and BSC. The day is shaped by your child's routine, not by a 3:30pm school pickup and a second trip back through the traffic. Dreamtime Learning Asia is a registered Cambridge examination center. Your child sits real IGCSE and A Level papers, not a locally-branded equivalent — the certificate is recognised for university admission in Malaysia and internationally.
Is homeschooling legal for my Bangsar family?
Yes. Under Section 135(1) of the Education Act 1996, Malaysian children aged 6–12 are required to be enrolled in primary school unless the parent obtains an exemption from the State Education Department (JPN), forwarded to the Ministry of Education for approval — a process that typically takes 4–8 weeks and requires a written curriculum plan, which Dreamtime provides as part of enrolment. Secondary-level homeschooling has more flexibility under the same Act. Non-citizen and expatriate families in Bangsar are generally not subject to this requirement.
