The Damansara–Petaling Jaya belt has no shortage of Cambridge-aligned schools — Sri KDU International in Kota Damansara, the British International School in Bandar Utama, and the Alice Smith secondary campus that many Damansara Heights families feed into — and the fees run to the top of the KL range. Dreamtime Learning gives families across Damansara and PJ the same Cambridge IGCSE curriculum, examined by the same board, taught live by qualified teachers, in batches of 10 or fewer — from home, without the international-school invoice.
Why Damansara & PJ families choose homeschooling over a traditional international school
The LDP at drop-off time — and the Sprint and Penchala Link behind it — is the most common reason parents across Kota Damansara, TTDI, Bandar Utama and the PJ sections first look into homeschooling.
But most stay for the small class sizes and the one-on-one attention their child doesn't get in a 25-student international-school classroom. A typical week for a Damansara or PJ homeschool family
Live classes run mornings (Primary 9:10am–1:00pm, Secondary 8:30am–1:05pm MYT), which leaves afternoons free for the enrichment this area is well-stocked with — swimming and sport at the local clubs, a walk in Taman Rimba Kiara, music or art, or an easy afternoon at 1 Utama or The Curve. There's no 3:30pm pickup dictating the day, and no second crawl back down the LDP to collect one child. Across an area this spread out, cutting the daily drive is often the single change families feel the most.
Cambridge-affiliated, not "inspired by"
Dreamtime Learning Asia is a registered Cambridge examination center. Your child sits real IGCSE and A Level papers, not a locally-branded equivalent — the certificate is recognised for university admission in Malaysia and internationally.
Is homeschooling legal for my Damansara or PJ family?
Yes. Under Section 135(1) of the Education Act 1996, Malaysian children aged 6–12 are required to be enrolled in primary school unless the parent obtains an exemption from the State Education Department (JPN), forwarded to the Ministry of Education for approval — a process that typically takes 4–8 weeks and requires a written curriculum plan, which Dreamtime provides as part of enrolment. Secondary-level homeschooling has more flexibility under the same Act. Non-citizen and expatriate families across Damansara and PJ are generally not subject to this requirement.
